Avon Engineered Fabrications, Inc. is one of the world’s foremost flexible structure fabricators. A variety of materials - including Natural, Neoprene, Hypalon, Nitrile, Butyl and Nitrile/PVC barrier have been used for a range of flexible structures and are suitable for contact with liquids as diverse as fruit juice, latex, edible vegetable oils, high quality wines, and non-hazardous chemicals. The selected polymer will vary, depending on the environmental conditions - such as extremes of temperature (arctic or desert), high flagellation (hovercraft skirts) or need for chemical resistance.

Avon Engineered Fabrications’ program team works with a customer’s design engineers to obtain an acceptable compromise between theoretical design and final cost. In one major ACV program, this approach cut fifty percent (50%) and almost $200,000 from the final cost of the skirt assembly.
Avon Engineered Fabrications, Inc. offers a wide range of bonding techniques embracing cold bond, hot bond and welded systems.
Cold bonding utilizes room temperature crosslinking adhesives and is not generally appropriate for the harsh environments facing hovercraft skirts, or pillow tanks, but it is used for other fabrications.
High Temperature Vulcanization (HTV) is accomplished using a range of specialized, proprietary hot vulcanized Avon adhesives, which are not available to unaffiliated companies. After appropriate surface preparation, the adhesive is applied to the surfaces to be bonded. The surfaces are then joined under high pressure and temperature conditions. This process results in an extremely well-integrated composite, and the adhesive layer provides considerably better flexural fatigue and lighter weight than hot bond tapes or adhesives available from rubber companies for less aggressive applications.
Thermoplastic (TP) and Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE) materials are used by Avon in a variety of applications.
Avon Engineered Fabrications, Inc. has developed a range of custom hot-wedge, high-speed welding equipment and techniques in combination with novel uses of more traditional process media under tightly controlled tolerances for joining materials such as PVC alloys and polyurethane. Collapsible fuel and water tanks are generally made from high quality PU coated nylon fabric, welded using these and other related techniques.
Avon Engineered Fabrications, Inc. offers customers the full range of coated fabrics. This material is sold in roll form, or as a fabrication for hovercraft skirts and other flexible applications. A wide range of rubber-coated fabrics are stocked at the company’s Mississippi location, offering North American customers significantly reduced delivery times. Special run or non-stock fabrics can be obtained depending on the type required.
